For Institutions

You are a secondary school, an institution welcoming teenagers or perhaps you lead a youth club, and you would like to work with an organisation dealing with the topics of relationships, sexuality and love.

What is Teen STAR?

Teen STAR is a non-profit organisation which provides interactive educational Courses for teenagers. Courses address all aspects of the personality of a human being, and accompany teenagers in a deeper reflection on relationships, love and sexuality.

Teen STAR Courses help teenagers to answer their inner questions: the more teenagers engage in reflection the more they gain in self-knowledge, self-confidence and maturity, and the realisation of their full potential.

Teen STAR Courses’ holistic approach represent an alternative to the usual choices available on the subject.

The Teen STAR Courses’ Content

Courses are based on the five aspects of human personality and sexuality, namely physiological, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual.

They lead teenagers to learn about their own body (fertility awareness) and that of the opposite sex, to think about who they truly are and what they want in life, to know how they manage their relationships, to improve the way they make their decisions and to act accordingly…

The topics of the courses can be summarised as follows:

  • Men and women in the media, sexuality in the media;

  • Friendship, love, feelings, being in love;

  • Going out, attitudes, behaviours, fashion;

  • Behaviour of boys towards girls and vice-versa, understanding of oneself and of others;

  • Understanding, and dealing with, change at adolescence;

  • Self-esteem and self-acceptance;

  • Saying “no”: How? When? Peer pressure, assertiveness;

  • Girls and boys: equal and different;

  • Anatomy and physiology of genital organs;

  • Fertility of men and women;

  • New life and birth;

  • Clarification on contraception, STIs; and

  • Dreams and vision.

How Does it Work?

  • Courses are made up of 16 to 20 workshops (60 to 90 minutes duration), and are run over one whole academic year, usually as after-school clubs, weekly or fortnightly, free of charge;

  • Groups are formed by gender and age (13-14, 15-18…) and are made up of between 4 and 12 volunteer participants;

  • Boys’ groups are led by male Teen STAR UK tutors and girls’ groups by female ones;

  • Courses are led by trained Accredited Teen STAR tutors using the Socratic Method; workshops are interactive, using role-playing, games etc.;

  • Teen STAR Tutors work on an entirely voluntary basis;

  • Parental consent for attendance at a Course is required for minors; and

  • All Teen STAR UK-accredited tutors running Courses have attended a 5-day Training Course, are DBS-checked, have received Safeguarding Training and comply with the Teen STAR UK Safeguarding Policy and the Teen STAR UK Code of Conduct.

We would be very pleased to come and make a presentation to you.
